Core Objectives

Student Education

Equip students/pupils with fundamental knowledge on eye health and the importance of maintaining good vision. At LOCS, student education on eye health is a key pillar in promoting lifelong vision care, with a special emphasis on myopia control measures and the importance of spectacle compliance. We educate students on effective strategies to slow myopia progression, including increased outdoor activities, proper lighting when studying, and taking regular screen breaks to reduce eye strain. Additionally, we emphasize the critical role of wearing prescribed glasses consistently to prevent further deterioration of vision and enhance learning outcomes. By instilling these practices early, we empower students to take charge of their eye health, ensuring clearer vision for a brighter future.

Early Diagnosis

Implement a structured, accessible way to identify students/pupils who may need further vision checks. At LOCS, we prioritize Action Towards Early Diagnosis by establishing and utilizing structured eye health programs within schools. Through early screening initiatives, we identify vision problems at a young age, preventing long-term complications that could hinder a child’s academic performance and overall well-being. By integrating eye health checks into school health programs, we ensure that students receive timely interventions, including referrals for further evaluation and provision of corrective eyewear when needed. Our approach also involves training teachers to recognize early signs of vision impairment, creating a sustainable system where schools play a key role in safeguarding children’s eye health.

Regular Screening & Referals

Identify students/pupils needing corrective action and ensure they receive appropriate care. At LOCS, we implement targeted vision screening to identify students and community members with vision impairments that may affect their daily activities and overall well-being. Our screenings are designed to detect refractive errors, eye diseases, and other visual challenges at an early stage. For cases requiring further management, we facilitate referrals to partner clinics, ensuring that individuals receive specialized care, including advanced diagnostics, medical treatment, or surgical interventions if necessary. Through this structured approach, we bridge the gap between initial screening and comprehensive eye care, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward optimal vision health.

Our wider Programs

School Eye Health(SEH)

Focus on improving eye health for school going children through early diagnisos and treatment. The program not only focuses on improving children's vision but also serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to consider optometry as a meaningful and impactful career. By integrating eye health education into schools, we expose students to the importance of vision care and the vital role optometrists play in improving lives. Through hands-on activities, mentorship opportunities, and awareness campaigns, we aim to spark interest in the field, encouraging students to pursue optometry as a profession that combines science, healthcare, and social impact. We are committed to establishing Vision Corridors in every school to ensure continuous awareness and early detection of vision problems among students. These dedicated spaces within schools serve as eye health hubs where students can access information about vision care, undergo basic screenings, and receive referrals for further examination if needed. By integrating Vision Corridors into the school environment, we create a proactive approach to identifying and addressing vision issues early, ensuring that no child’s education is hindered by uncorrected vision problems. This initiative empowers both students and teachers to prioritize eye health, fostering a future where clear vision supports academic success.
